The National Education Association (NEA)’s Read Across America Day calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss.

NEA established Read Across America Day with the hope of motivating children to view reading as an important factor in student achievment, as well as to create lifelong successful readers.

Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school.

United Way encourages you to join communities across the nation in celebrating Read Across America Day. And don’t stop there, grab a book and read to a little one every day.
